Georgetown Football Club advance to quarterfinals

Georgetown Football Club (GFC) downed Mahaica Determinators 2-0 when the Turbo Energy Drink Knockout Football competition continued on Wednesday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Following a scoreless first half, the Bourda unit copped the win following conversions from Ravi Junior and Kelsey Benjamin in the 60th and 81st minute respectively.

Junior broke the deadlock with a simple finish into the back of the net from inside the penalty area, after receiving a squared pass from the right side of the field. Benjamin would then put the game to bed nine minutes before the end, racing onto a through pass following a passing combination before slotting past the advancing goalkeeper.

The aforesaid victory propels the GFC into the quarterfinal round.

Meanwhile, Buxton United U-20 defeated Uitvlugt 3-1 in the opening match. The event resumes today at the same venue with another doubleheader.
