A man was on Friday granted bail after he denied stealing 200 shirts.

Nicholas Troy, 34, of Lot 110 Parika-Salem Village, appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in Georgetown, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge that on November 13th, he stole 200 shirts, worth a total of $300,000, from Janice Bobb.

After Troy denied the charge, police prosecutor Christopher Morris objected to him being released on bail. He informed the court the address Troy had given in court differed from what he told police. As a result, he objected to bail on the grounds of the difference in addresses. While the man insisted that he lives at the address given, the police told the magistrate that while Troy was in custody he gave another address.

Despite the prosecution’s objections, the magistrate released Troy on $60,000 bail after the accused claimed that the police must have heard a different address from what he told them.

The matter was adjourned until December 31st.
