North G/town crowned champs after dethroning West Ruimveldt

North Georgetown was crowned the new Smalta Girls Pee Wee U11 Football champions after dethroning defending champions West Ruimveldt 2-1 yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Tournament most valuable player [MVP] Martha Chance bagged a double in the 11th and 23rd minute to secure the title for the Woolford Avenue outfit. For the losers, Daniela Lewis netted in the 14th minute. With the result, North Georgetown walked away with the championship trophy and $100,000 towards a school project.

On the other hand, West Ruimveldt pocketed $50,000 towards a school initiative and the corresponding accolade. In the third place playoff, Tucville defeated Redeemer 3-2 on penalty kicks, after regulation and extra time failed to produce a goal.

Due to the outcome, Tucville pocketed $30,000 towards a school project and a trophy while the losers received $20,000 for a school project and a trophy. In the earlier semi-final matches, North Georgetown crushed Tucville 5-0. Chance recorded all five goals in the second, ninth, 11th, 15th and 23rd minute while West Ruimveldt defeated Redeemer 2-1 on penalty kicks after regulation and extra time ended 1-1. Prior to the penalty shoot-out, Saskia Chace scored for West Ruimveldt in the first minute while Leanna Hill equalised in the 23rd minute for Redeemer.
