Brazilian gets three-month sentence and fine for trafficking ganja

A Brazilian youth, who had been arrested for murder, will be spending the next three months in jail after pleaded guilty to trafficking marijuana that was found in his possession.

Nathan De Almeiba, 19, of Mococa, a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil, was yesterday sentenced and fined after he admitted to a magistrate that he had 66.2 grammes of marijuana in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read the charge, which stated that on November 30th, at South Pakaraimas, Rupununi, De Almeiba had 66.2 grammes of cannabis, valued $99,000, for the purpose of trafficking in his possession.

Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield stated that on the day in question, De Almeiba was arrested by a toshao for a reported murder, which occurred in Brazil. While in the toshao’s custody, the police arrived and conducted a search on him that uncovered two transparent plastic bags containing the suspected narcotic in his left pants pocket and the crotch of his pants.

The unemployed youth did not object to the information presented by the prosecutor. When he was asked what he was doing the country if he wasn’t working, he said that he was going to a party. He was then sentenced to three months behind bars and fined $99,000. After serving the sentence he is to be immediately be deported to Brazil
