Tishawn Thomas, a young miner, was granted bail yesterday after he pleaded not guilty to an attempted murder charge.

Thomas, 21, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in a Georgetown court, where he was faced with the charge that on December 2nd, at Baramita, with intent to commit murder, he wounded Kevon David.

After denying the charge and with no objections to bail from prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, the man was asked to post $150,000 bail for his release.

Mansfield earlier told the court that the two men were at a camp where they had a misunderstanding and Thomas pulled out a knife, which he used to inflict stab wounds to David. Mansfield reported that David received stabs to his left arm and upper abdomen. He was taken to a hospital in the area and was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he is currently a patient.

While Mansfield did not object to bail, he asked that conditions be applied to the bail. The magistrate subsequently granted bail with the condition that Thomas report to the Baramita Police Station every Friday until the Preliminary Inquiry into the charge commences. He was also instructed to go the Matthews Ride Magistrate’s Court on February 4th, 2020, when the matter is slated to be called.
