Timothy Tucker was re-elected president of the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Monday when the body hosted its Annual General Meeting at the club’s main pavilion.

Also elected until 2021 were Ramsey Ali who will continue as Vice-President while Jameel Baksh is the Secretary and Jonathan Yearwood the Treasurer.

Richard Jodah was voted club captain along with Philip Fernandes, Nadira Jaikaran and Gavin Ramsundar as committee members. All the positions were unopposed.

According to Jodah, the new executive unveiled its plan for the new term which features the construction of a new miniature golf course as well as an all-weather facility.

The club captain said that there are plans to add more activities to the calendar with the international bar as one of the marquee events.

Jodah related that the body, during its previous term, managed to turn around the fortunes of the club and “move it from a four million dollar deficit to a couple million profit.”

The evening’s activity also saw the club honoring Sterling Products, Noble House Seafoods and John Fernandes Limited for their significant contributions to the club over the year.

The Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) was founded in 1858 during Guyana’s colonial era. In its early days membership was open only to British men born in Great Britain or elsewhere.
