Stolen SUV found abandoned after Bel Air Village robbery

The sports utility vehicle (SUV) which was stolen earlier this week during an armed robbery committed on civil engineer Travis Bridgemohan and his family at their Bel Air Village home was found abandoned but intact at ‘A’ Field, Sophia, on Wednesday evening.

Stabroek News was reliably informed that the police, acting on information received, went to ‘A’ Field, Sophia around 5.45 pm on Wednesday, where the vehicle, a Nissan X Trail with the licence plate PSS 6075, was found abandoned. The keys were found in the grass a short distance away.

The vehicle was processed and has since been lodged at the Turkeyen Police Station pending further investigations.

Stabroek News had previously reported that Bridgemohan, his wife and another relative were relieved of their cellphones, a quantity of cash and other valuables during the attack which had occurred around 9 pm on Tuesday at Lot 50 Bel Air, Georgetown.

The crime was allegedly committed by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun. Up to yesterday afternoon, they remained on the lam.

The family had just returned home after visiting a supermarket on Sherriff Street.

Bridgemohan, Stabroek News was told, drove his vehicle into the yard, where he and the others were confronted by the bandits. The armed bandit allegedly held Bridgemohan at gunpoint and demanded that he hand over his belongings while his accomplice relieved Mendoza and the other relative of the valuables they had in their possession.

The bandits then escaped in Bridgemohan’s vehicle. An alarm was raised and the police were alerted.
