Christmas comes early for the Kennard Memorial Turf Club

Recently, office and computer supplies giant, Metro, continued their sponsorship agreement for the traditional Boxing Day meet scheduled to be staged at the Bush Lot, Corentyne track.

During a simple ceremony at the company’s Quamina Street location, its representatives presented a cheque worth $1,875,000 and the champion’s trophy to President of the Club, Cecil Kennard.

This sponsorship will go towards the feature one mile race which carries a winning purse of $1M. The runner-up stable in this event will take home $500,000, third place $250,000 and fourth place, $125,000.

Metro’s Chief Executive Officer, Avee Lindie said the company is happy to be part of this event once again adding that this will mark the 13th year of sponsoring the annual fixture. Kennard stated that he was grateful for the sponsorship from the entity he has enjoyed a decade plus partnership with.

The six-race Boxing Day card will be headlined by thoroughbreds like Lucky Star, Golden Blue Echo, Don’t Overlook, Just Call Me Boss and others.

Race time is set for 12:30pm.
