Bosai Guyana intends to remain committed to the social programmes that they have been contributing to over the years.
According to a National Industrial & Commercial Investments Ltd (NICIL) release, this disclosure was made by the company’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Vanessa Mitchell-Davis. She stated that since establishing operations here in Guyana some thirteen years ago, Bosai has contributed to several projects and programmes within Region Ten, while assisting with several other projects nationally.
Mitchell-Davis referred to the renovation of the swimming pool at the McKenzie Sports Club (MSC), the distribution of hampers to seniors during the annual staging of the Linden Town Week, the Regional and National Bursary awards, the fixing of streets and the part-sponsorship of a number of sporting and football competitions and assured that all these will continue to be the company’s primary projects.
“We had renovated and enhanced the swimming pool at the MSC ground and we had invested over ten million dollars into that project but while we are definitely disappointed about the staff of that swimming pool now we remain committed to continuing giving back to Region Ten,” Mitchell-Davis stated.
The PRO reminded that her company provides employment to over 600 persons, which is a significant contributor to the economic development of the community. She added that while employees of other companies have encountered difficulties with working conditions, she assured that at Bosai it is different. The company, she said, is not all about making money but investing and enhancing communities.
According to Mitchell-Davis, evidence of this philosophy can be seen in the company’s bursary awards which began in 2007 and over 800 students having benefitted with some 45 being awarded as recently as 2019. “The amount of monies invested into the bursaries are millions but while I don’t have the exact amount, I can assure you that over 800 students benefited and as a result have been able to pursue their academic goals.”
She further emphasised that education is one of the company’s critical areas for national development, hence, the pomp and ceremony surrounding the annual bursary awards. She also pointed out that the bursary is done at three levels, which includes at the employee level, regional level and national level as the company seeks to ensure that it can play an important role in the academic development of the country’s youths.
The PRO acknowledged that the seniors in any community are equally important and noted that several seniors have already contacted them to ensure that their names are included on the list for next year’s Town Week. “Many of the seniors would approach us months ahead to ensure that they are included on the list as they are aware of the value and size of the hampers and it is an eagerly sought-after gift that they all seek. So, we are accustomed to several seniors contacting us so early to get their names on the list,” Mitchell-Davis said.
She also disclosed that Bosai will also be sponsoring some parts of the Linden Town Week as it forms part of their social responsibility, however, while they are interested in helping every person who has brought a request the company unfortunately cannot assist everyone. She noted that many requests come in almost daily for assistance from many groups and individuals but they are forced to turn several down. “We would like to assist everyone who request support in some way or the other, unfortunately we can’t.”
The PRO however, praised the relationship that currently exists between Bosai and NICIL, underscoring that for the past two years the relationship has significantly improved and disclosed that the style of management applied by NICIL has resulted in Bosai seeking ways to boost their relationship.
“We are very impressed with how NICIL has been handling a number of matters with regards to Bosai and I must say that because of this it has helped in us resolving a number of issues that once were difficult to resolve. It is as a result of this level of relationship that continues to see a number of holistic benefits for both the country and Bosai as an investor,” Mitchell-Davis declared.
