Vikings upset Pepsi Sonics 74-69 in their second division matchup when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association [GABA]/’Lets Bet Sports’ championship continued on Tuesday.

Staged at the Burnham Court, Middle and Carmichael Streets in front of a sizable crowd, Seon Lee top scored with 17 points for the victors with Kevon Dey the next best scorer with 15 points.

Contributing 10, 10 and eight points each were Rawle Smith. Osafo Johnson and Jeffrey Wilkinson respectively.

For Sonics, Shamar Anderson scored 20 points while Troy Glasgow added 14 points. Chipping in with 12 and 10 points were Lemuel Grant and Jacques Vincente respectively.

The contest begun brightly for Vikings who took the lead compliments of a 15-12 score-line at the end of the first period.

However, Sonics responded in the second stanza, netting 25 points while restricting their foes to 12 points to enter the halftime interval in control at 37-27.

The sea-saw nature of the clash continued in the pivotal third quarte, as Vikings outscored Sonics 19-11 to reduce the deficit at 48-46 entering the final period.

The come-from-behind result was then realised in the final stanza as Vikings amassed a mammoth 28 points while reducing Sonics to 21 points.

The event which is sponsored by the Guyana Lottery Company, resumed yesterday at the same venue with another round of matches.

The second division of the event will feature five teams competing in a single elimination tournament.

Similarly, the first division feature eight teams and will last for the duration of seven day
