Den Amstel stays unbeaten after edging Buxton

Den Amstel continued its unbeaten run in the Guyana Football Federation [GFF] Elite League, edging Buxton United 1-0 yesterday at the Den Amstel Community ground.

Following a scoreless first half interval, Kester Jacobs secured the victory, etching his name on the scorer’s sheet compliments of a 73rd minute penalty conversion.

On the other hand, Western Tigers were held to a 2-2 draw with Victoria Kings.

Randy Stoby and Trevor Fraser scored in the 24th and 28th minute respectively for Kings, with Randolph Wagner and Colin Nelson netting for the Tigers in the 17th and 52nd minute.

Meanwhile, Guyana Defence Force [GDF] was held to a scoreless draw by Milerock on Saturday at the Mackenzie Sports Club [MSC] ground, Linden.

It was a back and forth matchup, which saw both sides guilty of wasting several opportunities to take the respective lead.

The noteworthy moment of the match occurred in the 90th minute as GDF captain Sean Arthur received a red card after picking up his second bookable offence.

The event will resume on Friday April 5th at the Camp Ayanganna ground with a doubleheader.

Western Tigers will engage Den Amstel at 18:00hrs, with GDF battling Victoria Kings from 20:3:00hrs.
