Guyana drawn in Group A of CONCACAF Olympic Qualifiers

Guyana were drawn in Group-A of the Caribbean Playoff Leg of the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship following yesterday’s official draw.

The Guyanese have been grouped  with heavyweight Jamaica, St. Kitts & Nevis and Dominica in event, which is set to be held from July 17th-21st.

The other groups are Group-B Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Cuba and US Virgin Islands, Group-C Haiti, Suriname, Grenada and Cayman Islands and Group-D Antigua & Barbuda, Dominican Republic, Saint Lucia and Puerto Rico.

Following the conclusion of the group round, the respective group winners will advance to the final round. Victor of group-A will battle the winner of group-D, with the group-B qualifier pitted against its group-C counterpart.

The resulting winners of the aforesaid matches will qualify for the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship. Meanwhile, the Central American section of the event will staged over three home and away matchups.

Costa Rica will match skills with Guatemala, with Honduras battling Nicaragua and El Salvador opposing Panama.

The format, host country and dates for the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifiers will be announced at a later date. Mexico, Canada and the United States are the North American representatives.
