Three masked gunmen robbed the owners of a Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice clothing store last evening and battered one of them during the attack.

The robbery occurred around 7 pm.

Ramkarran Luckicharran, also known as “Bandi”, 45, of Lot 55 Waterloo Bath Settlement, told Sunday Stabroek that he suffered injuries to his eyes after the men, who were armed with handguns, dealt him blows to his head and face.

According to Luckicharran, who operates Bandi’s Clothing Store at his residence, the bandits invaded his premises while he was picking up clothes and ordered him to hand over his valuables.

The bandits, who escaped in a silver Premio, reportedly carted off $150,000 in cash, jewellery that included diamond rings, two laptops, and a DVR used for the surveillance system. They also took $15,000 from Luckicharran’s sister and other items. 

Up to last evening the police were at the scene investigating the attack, while Luckicharran was taken to a hospital for medical attention.
