Left-arm spinner Raj Nannan produced a spell of sorcery on Tuesday evening to spur Malteenoes All-Stars in the semifinal of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Twenty20 tournament after securing a crushing eight-wicket win over the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) in the Twin Island Republic.

Nannan was clinical on the night, grabbing 5-19 from his full complement of overs; his haul limited TTDF to 123 before they were dismissed in the final over.

Keishawn Dillon (20) top-scored for the army men as seamer Kellon Carmichael (2-14) and Anthony Adams (2-36) supported Nannan’s efforts.

Meanwhile, MSC in response, faced a revised target of 94 from 15 overs after the match was affected by rain. Nevertheless, the Guyanese  stormed to 95 for two inside 11 overs to secure the last four spot.

Robin Bacchus (31) and Trevon Griffith (27) were the men at the fore of the chase.

MSC will face Queen’s Park Cricket Club tomorrow in what is expected to be a keenly contested semifinal.
