Mahdia miner charged with trying to break into postal workers’ housing

A Mahdia miner has been charged with attempting to break and enter the Mahdia Post Office living quarters.

Linden Flavius, 52, was brought before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty last Friday on the charge of attempting to commit a felony.

The charge states that on January 20th, 2020, at 111 Miles, Mahdia, he attempted to commit a felony, that is to say, he attempted to break and enter the Mahdia Post Office’s living quarters. Flavius pleaded not guilty.

Police Prosecutor Delon Sullivan objected to Flavius’ release. He told the court that Flavius was apprehended by police at the post office and that he told the police that he lived at the post office’s living quarters. However, further investigations revealed that he lived at Pepper Hill, Mahdia.

Flavius told the Magistrate that the address at Pepper Hill was his actual address. As a result, he was not granted bail. However, when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan yesterday, he was granted $70,000 and the matter was adjourned until April, when it will be called at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court.
