McKinnon, Latchana clinch season-opening wins

Ryan McKinnon and Rajiv Latchana shot their way to season-opening wins in the fifth Guyana Sports Shooting Foundation annual P&P Insurance Brokers & Consultants sponsored Pistol Match at the Guyana Defence Force Yarrowkabra Range recently.

McKinnon won the limited division while John Phang and Pravesh Harry were second and third respectively.

Latchana secured the top prize in the production division ahead of Andrew Phang and Michael Blake.

The Stats Officer for this match was Dr Pravesh Harry.  It was the first shooting event of the year that commenced after a general practice session which preceded the shooters testing their skills.

Opening remarks were made by Match Director, Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon who then introduced Range Master, Dallas Thomas, who reminded participants of the safety rules.

The match was declared open by Match Director Persaud-McKinnon.

The Board of Directors via a press release commended the Match Director, Range Master, Stats Officer, Range Officers and the shooters for ensuring an efficient event. 

Special thanks also went to the Guyana Defence Force, Chief of Staff Brigadier Patrick West, Col. Skeete of the GDF, Commissioner of Police Leslie James, the ranks of TSU and the Guyana Police Force, the Media and GSSF members for their support in promoting practical shooting locally.
