Mohamed Qualander, Rajiv Latchana and Ryan McKinnon copped the Open, Production and Limited divisional titles, when the Guyana Sports Shooting Foundation (GSSF) staged its El Dorado Security Service year-end championships Sunday at the Camp Stephenson shooting range, Timehri.

A release from the GSSF stated that there were  three  divisions, namely the Limited, Production and Open divisions.

“Each division had its unique requirements and restrictions, as prescribed by the USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association). Since each division has its own regulations, the shooters do not directly compete with each other across divisions. As such, prizes were awarded for 1st – 3rd place in each division.”  The four courses were: ‘Christmas Present Ambush’, ‘Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot’, ‘New Year’s Chimes Ring Twelve Times,’ and ‘Boxing Day Duck and Weave’. Each had its specific rules and regulations.

Qualander clinched the Open title, after ending on 313.7305 points. Dallas Thomas clinched the runner-up position after ending on 225.5197 points.

In the Production Division, Latchana secured the title after clinching 283.6327 points. He was followed by Satya Dayaram who ended on 262.6409 points.

Rounding out the top three was Lancelot Khan, who finished on 239.0757 points.

Meanwhile, McKinnon romped to the Limited Division championship, following an output of 325.0000 points. His closest challenger, Pravesh Harry, tallied 204.1082 points. Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon ended in third place after recording 147.8643 points.

At the closing and presentation ceremony at the Range, Alvin Holladar, Chief Security Officer of El Dorado Security Service, delivered remarks on behalf of El Dorado Security Service and congratulated  the winners and the foundation for a job well done.

He said he was particularly pleased to see the high level of shooting and the emphasis put on safety.

Holladar and  Marwin Layne, Senior Supervisor of El Dorado Security Service presented trophies to the winners.
