The Persaud brothers, Ajita and Akshaya ensured Cornelia Ida Cricket Club (CI) a 99-run win over All Youths `B’ Sports Club at the Meten-Meer-Zorg ground in the latest round of the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA) T20 tournament  Sunday.

After the contest was reduced to 18 overs-a side due to a late start, CI won the toss and opted to bat first where they piled on 139 for seven from their quota under overcast conditions. CI returned to dismiss All Youths `B’ for 40 in 14.2 overs.

Ajita Persaud stroked five fours and one six in his 28 while Avishkar Ramgobin made 27 not out, featuring three fours. Arshad Ali contributed 24, laced with four fours. Abid Haniff and Zahir Azee picked up two wickets each for 17 and 23 runs respectively.

In the chase All Youths `B’ crumbled in the face of the spin-based attack as national player, Akshaya Persaud, rocked the inexperienced side with four wickets for just nine runs from four overs of left-arm spin. He was supported by Harrinarine Bissondyal who took 5-3 along with Ali and Richie Looknauth who took two wickets each. Royale Melville was the only batsman to reach double figures.
