Three more COVID-19 cases

Guyana has confirmed three more cases of persons with the novel coronavirus diseases (COVID-19), bringing the total number to 73, Public Health Minister Volda Lawrence announced today.

During today’s national COVID-19 update, Lawrence said a total of 410 persons have now been tested, which is an increase of 35 since Thursday.

A source told this newspaper that at least one of the three new cases is a Linden resident, who is asymptomatic but was tested as a result of contact tracing.

Lawrence also said the ministry’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit has reported for the period March 16 to April 24, 2020, a total of 793 persons have been on home quarantine. She added that to date 596 persons have completed their 14 days quarantine and they were cleared by the Health Emergency Operations Centre and 197 persons continue to be monitored.
