Rotary Clubs to host tribute to frontline medical workers

In recognition of the brave medical personnel on the frontline of the fight against the coronavirus, the Rotary Clubs of Guyana will be hosting a tribute today at 1 pm.

According to a Rotary Clubs release, the nationwide event titled “Thank You Our Heroes” will include the six Rotary Clubs in Georgetown, New Amsterdam and Corriverton and be aired simultaneously on several radio and television stations, including those located in the interior of Guyana.

Tributes will be paid by Guyanese both local and overseas, including heads of religious and private and public sector organisations. Doctors and nurses will relate the experiences they face every day and night in hospitals whilst caring for victims of Covid 19.

The Rotary Clubs are encouraging drivers of motor cars, minibuses, motorcycles, trucks, and even boats on the river, to toot their horns for one minute starting at exactly 1 pm today and “become a part of this nationwide show of gratitude to those heroes who risk their lives to save the lives of others,” the release added.
