A South Ruimveldt Gar-dens man succumbed to his injuries on Sunday after being involved in a collision at Friendship, on the East Coast, the day before.

According to Chief Traffic Officer Linden Isles, 34-year-old Errol Abrams, also known as ‘Woney’, of Lot 243 Baramita Street, South Ruimveldt Gardens, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, May 17 at 3 pm.

Isles said Abrams, who was riding a motorcycle, was proceeding south along the eastern side of the Friendship Access Road, on the East Coast of Demerara, when he collided with a car which was proceeding in the northern direction along the western side of the road.

While investigations are currently ongoing, Isles said that the driver of the motor car told investigators that Abrams swerved in front of him, thereby causing the two vehicles to collide. Abrams suffered injuries to his head and about his body and was unconscious when he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he later succumbed. The driver did not sustain any major injuries.

Abrams’ family told Stabroek News that the man had a common-law spouse. They also said that up to  yesterday afternoon they were still waiting for information from the police about the accident.
