Police believe they have captured one of the suspects in a recent violent robbery committed on an Albouystown motorcyclist in Georgetown.

Days after he and another allegedly robbed an Albouystown resident in the Charlestown, the accused was arrested after an attempted attack on another individual.

The Guyana Police Force, in a press release issued yesterday, confirmed that the suspect, a 22-year-old resident of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, is presently under police guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

He suffered injuries after he fell off a motorcycle during the alleged attempt to rob another on Friday night.

On Monday, the suspect and an accomplice were caught on CCTV footage as they allegedly robbed the motorcyclist in Charlestown.

In a surveillance video of the attack, which was circulated on Facebook and seen by this newspaper, two bandits on a motorcycle knocked the victim off of his motorcycle, causing him to fall on the roadway.

One of the bandits, who appeared to be armed, disembarked from their motorcycle and approached the victim as he lay on the roadway. He was then seen scuffling with the victim before relieving him of a bag. The victim was reportedly shot during the attack.

The suspect then jumped back of the waiting motorcycle which was driven by his alleged accomplice. His accomplice is currently being pursued by the police.
