Man, 35, found dead in Plaisance trench

The police are investigating the death of a 35-year-old man whose lifeless body was discovered in a trench at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara yesterday morning.

The dead man has been identified as Hillary Shepherd, 35, of Lot 87 Prince William Street, Plaisance, ECD.

Stabroek News understands that around 9.30 am yesterday, residents of the area noticed a lifeless body floating in a trench at Prince William Street, Plaisance.

They body along with a bicycle and a haversack was later pulled out of the trench. 

The police were summoned. Shepherd’s body was examined but no mark of violence was observed.

Reports are that Shepherd worked in the interior several years ago during which he was involved in an accident. From then onwards, he experienced frequent seizures.

It is suspected that Shepherd might have drowned.

However, the police are awaiting the results of an autopsy which is scheduled to be conducted sometime this week.
