A convict serving time at the Mazaruni Prison is likely to face new charges after he was allegedly found in possession of a bucket containing parcels of suspected cannabis last Tuesday.

Stabroek News was reliably informed that around 7.45am, a prison officer was on patrol duty in the prison compound when he saw Arthur Taylor allegedly pick up a white bucket and run to the back to the prison chapel. The officer gave chase and subsequently apprehended Taylor.

He searched the bucket and unearthed several parcels of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis, which amounted to 1,472 grammes.

Taylor was subsequently taken to the Bartica Police station. He is expected to be charged soon.
