YBG donates face masks to help fight Covid-19

Local basketball promotional group, Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG), commenced a significant mask distribution campaign in an effort to aid in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to a release, 30 groups, including those from schools and sports organizations from seven different regions, were the recipients of the protective face masks.

“Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) this week started its face mask distribution campaign whereby 30 groups spanning seven regions – comprising schools, NGO’s and Sports Organizations will benefit from 60 thousand three-ply face masks received as a gift from California to  the Guyana Basketball Foundation, a non-profit organization based in the United States.”

According to the release, the entity is imploring citizens to play their respective roles in the fight against the virus by following the health guidelines, adding that it is necessary to wear a protective mask whenever in the public domain.

“YBG is grateful for the opportunity to assist in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic that has to date taken some 39 precious lives and infected over one thousand of our citizens. We also would like to remind everyone of the necessity of wearing a face mask, whenever in public or among other people, and to adhere to the public health preventative guidelines as a vital new habit,” the release stated.
