Gifted left-handed opening batsman Trevon Griffith pulled the curtains down on his stint in the United States with a critical all-round showing to guide New Jersey Blackcaps to championship glory in the just concluded Ispace T20 championship at the weekend in Weston Road 1.

Blackcaps defeated Dream-Cricket Willow Sluggers by six wickets.

Chasing 133 for victory, Blackcaps romped home at 135-4 inside 16 overs courtesy of a belligerent 43-ball 76 from Griffith whose innings included seven sixes and three fours.

The Guyanese shared a vital 102-run second-wicket partnership with Vivek Ravi (32) which sealed the game for their side. Fellow Guyanese Zamal Khan (8) and Adil Bhatti (0) were the unbeaten men at the crease when the victory was completed. Earlier in the day, Sluggers, after winning the toss and electing to bat were limited to 132 for nine from their full complement of 20 overs.

Rushi Amin top-scored with 30 while former Guyanese and West Indies all-rounder Neil `Beast’ McGarrell supported with an unbeaten 27.

Former national youth player Dominique Rikhi chipped in with 16 as Shawn Findlay (3-9) and Griffith (2-23) emerged as the pick of the bowlers for the eventual champs.
