Couva man charged with murder of Venezuelan national

(Trinidad Guardian) A Couva man is expected to appear virtually before a Couva Magistrate charged with the murder of Venezuelan national, Joanna Sanchez-Diaz, which occurred on an unknown date between August 27th 2020 and September 5th 2020.

An official release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) states that 36-year-old CALVIN BAHADUR, of Preysal Village in Couva, was charged with the offence, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul, on Wednesday 9th September, 2020.

The 33-year-old victim, Joanna Sanchez-Diaz, of Buen Intento Road, Princes Town, was reported missing by a relative on Tuesday 1st September, 2020.

The accused was arrested in connection with her disappearance on Friday 4th September 2020.

The body of Joanna Sanchez-Diaz was found one day later, in a cesspit in Couva, on Saturday 5th September 2020.

Calvin Bahadur was charged with her murder on Wednesday 9th September 2020, by WPC Knights of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (Region 3).
