GFF begins process of outfitting Member Associations

In an effort to bring uniformity and professionalism to the game, local governing entity, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), has initiated the process of outfitting the respective Member Associations and Elite League Clubs with team uniforms.

This was disclosed by a source close to the federation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. According to the source, the federation will purchase three sets of uniforms for the Member Associations and Elite League teams, adding that the uniforms will be designed by the respective members for U17, Women’s and Senior Men’s Team.

The source revealed, “The associations will have an U17, Women’s and Senior Men’s home and away uniforms. The associations were sent the necessary information on how to build their kit and are responsible for the look of the uniforms, they have to effectively build it. The federation sent the associations the samples and they have to design their own kit.”

The source further disclosed that a request for the submission of designed uniforms by the federation occurred during the month of August. “This request from the federation was sent during the month of August, there was no deadline for submission stated. It simply stated that the associations should submit the necessary information on the uniforms as soon as possible”, the source added.

Elaborating further, the source revealed that clubs under the umbrella of the respective member associations will not be eligible for the uniforms, adding, “It is not for all clubs, it’s basically for all associations and the Elite League clubs. The clubs under the respective associations will not receive the uniform package. The uniform is mainly and primarily for the use of the respective associations during the staging of the Inter-Association tournaments. Basically they, the GFF, are the ones who will be purchasing the uniforms and team kits for the association. The federation is responsible for that.”

According to the source, the initiative must be commended, as it brings professionalism and uniformity to the sport, which is required and is part of the process of development.

The source continued, “I welcome the initiative, when football restarts and if there is a league running in an association, the uniforms will be available for use in the event that two teams arrive at the venue and are using the same colours. This could be used to remedy the situation. It would aid in the development of the sport in the association, the Elite League clubs are also getting the same package. Some of the associations have already received their confirmation from the GFF following submissions of their intended kits. The GFF has confirmed this with associations.”
