It’s a joy to pick and eat my own produce

Dear Editor,

In the year 2011, I moved into Diamond Housing Scheme to live. Because of my passion for farming, I started a little kitchen garden planting greens and later added fruits in my garden.

All of my produce was successful, but my first challenge was that my yard was not fenced, and cows started to roam in my garden as well as neighbours started to steal my produce.

My yard was later fenced with the help of relatives and friends. My garden blossomed more.

Planting is my hobby that is why I continue to plant. It’s a joy to pick and eat my own produce. I usually share my produce with relatives and friends. I do hope the young people of Guyana would take up farming more serious.

Yours faithfully,
