Five injured after car topples at Adventure

A police constable, his fiancé and three minor children were injured on Friday after the car in which they were travelling reportedly suffered a blowout on Friday night along the Adventure Public Road, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

The police did not disclose the identities of the injured persons.

The accident occurred around 10.30pm. At the time, the car, a black Toyota Allion, was driven by a 24-year-old police constable of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, who was accompanied by his fiancé and three children, ages 7 years, 3 years, and four months.

Police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Royston Andries-Junor, in a statement yesterday, said enquiries revealed that they were proceeding in a south-western direction along the south-eastern lane of the road when the driver reported that there was a tyre blowout.

As a result, the police constable lost control of the vehicle and it toppled several times.

The occupants were taken out of the vehicle by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Linden Hospital. They were all treated for minor injuries. However, the seven-year-old child, who suffered a broken leg, was admitted as a patient.
