One person is now dead and three have been listed as critical after being involved in an accident at Kilometer 33, Buckhall, Region One.
Dead is Gordon Mansfield, a retired court superintendent and current employee of Aurora Gold Mines Inc (AGM).
Enquiries revealed that the accident occurred along Buck Hall road and involved one of AGM’s pickups which was transporting personnel from the Aurora Gold Mines site to its Buckhall facility located along the Essequibo River.
Pick up #56 was transporting four persons including the driver when it suffered a blowout.
The victims were taken to the Buckhall facility and later air-dashed by a Guyana Defence Force helicopter to Woodlands Hospital in the city.
Mansfield who suffered injuries to his head succumbed while receiving treatment.
