The Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) has announced new hours of operation for water taxis that ply the Georgetown to Vreed-en-Hoop, Parika to Bartica and Parika to Wakenaam and Supenaam routes and which take effect from Monday.
According to public notices issued by MARAD on Friday, the water taxis that service the Georgetown to Vreed-en-Hoop route will be operating from 6 am to 8 pm.
As a result, access to the stellings on both sides will be allowed from 6 am until 8pm, although they will remain open shortly after the closing time to allow all commuters to exit.
Water taxis that ply the Parika to Bartica and the Parika to Wakenaam to Supenaam route, MARAD said, will be operating from 6 am to 6 pm.
MARAD added that passengers and boat operators are being reminded, that social distancing is still in effect on the stellings and water taxis. This is being enforced by the Department’s monitors, particularly during the peak hours.
