A Canal Number One man has been taken into police custody following the seizure by the police of a firearm, ammunition and other weapons.
The search of the residence was carried out by a party of policemen at 3:30pm on Saturday. The search was said to have followed the arrest of a twenty-three-year-old man by the police the previous night at Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara.
Police found one black .32 Taurus firearm without a serial number and seven matching rounds, along with a knife and a black tope in the north-western bedroom under the mattress. The police then took possessions of the items and arrested the second suspect.
