Police have arrested a juvenile in the murder of 18-year-old Adrian Purlette. The detained teen is one of three suspects that were fingered in Purlette’s killing last week.

According to police commander with responsibility for Region Four, district ‘A’, Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean, the teen was arrested sometime on Tuesday. No other details were disclosed. The police are still on the hunt for the two other suspects.

The deceased, a resident of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was attacked in the vicinity of a friend’s home he visited on Wednesday, October 21.

Purlette reportedly visited his friend’s place on Wednesday night and while he was there the three suspects arrived, approached him, and demanded money.

However, Purlette told the suspects that he had no money and an argument ensued. Purlette tried to leave but the suspects allegedly followed him and launched the fatal attack.

Purlette’s friend reportedly told investigators that he heard the youth shouting for help. The friend said by the time he rushed to his assistance, he saw Purlette lying in a pool of blood. He immediately sought help and transported him to the hospital.

A relative who wished not to be named had previously told Stabroek News that the altercation is believed to have stemmed from an old grievance Purlette had with a group of boys.
