Police are still to arrest a suspect in the hit and run that claimed the life of Devanand Bansie along the Mon Repos Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara, almost a month and a half ago.

Bansie, a vendor of Lot 27 Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, celebrated his 23rd birthday hours before he died on September 19th.

A relative of the dead man told Stabroek News that while members of Bansie’s family are beginning to cope with his absence, they are hoping that justice will be served.

A police report stated that the deceased was seen lying motionless on the southern side of the Mon Repos Railway Embankment, in front of his residence with injuries. The paramedics were summoned to the scene and pronounced him dead.

A post-mortem examination had revealed that he died from multiple injuries consistent with that of an accident.

A sister-in-law of Bansie previously told this newspaper that footage from a nearby surveillance camera revealed that he was hit by a car that kept on going after he was hit.
