Suspect in labourer’s murder surrenders to cops

The suspect in the murder of labourer Keron Williams, 20, who was fatally stabbed on November 1st, at Met-en-meerzorg, has been arrested.

Police Commander of Region Three Errol Watts told Stabroek News that the suspect turned himself over to the police in the company of his lawyer.

Watts explained that while there is enough evidence to charge the suspect, a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice on the way forward.

According to a police statement, Williams, of Ocean Garden, West Coast Demerara, was drinking at a shop in the company of the suspect before he was found with stab wounds to his left shoulder. He was picked up and taken to the Lenora Cottage Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

An aunt of the deceased, Susan Williams, told this newspaper that she was told that Williams threw a bicycle at the suspect and was about to hit him when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed him before running off.
