Two Region Seven students test positive for COVID

Two students who attend schools with dormitories in Region Seven have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

According to the Minis-try of Health (MoH) the two students are from the Bartica and Three Miles Secondary schools. A primary school teacher also tested positive for the virus.

The positive results of the two students and the teacher returned on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the ministry said that contact tracing protocols have commenced and persons who were exposed to the disease have been placed on quarantine while the positive cases were placed in isolation at a separate location.

The Ministry is currently testing all students who attend secondary schools with dormitories. Stabroek News was informed that the two students along with the eight others from President’s College are the only ones who tested positive for COVID-19 as of yesterday.

Meanwhile, Minister of Health Dr. Frank Anthony during a COVID-19 update yesterday said that everyone at President’s College has been tested and they are currently awaiting the results of 40 persons who attends the school.

Anthony assured that contact tracing protocols have commenced.
