Safe Tennis C/ships….

Pre-tournament favourites, Gavin Lewis,  Heimraj Resaul and Andre Lopes secured their places in the semi-finals of the Guyana Tennis Association (GTA) Safe Tennis male tournament on the back of clinical performances last weekend at the Le Ressouvenir Tennis Court, East Coast Demerara.

Lewis defeated David Rose 6-1 6-1, while Jason Andrews defeated Devon Gonsalves 6-3, 6-1 to close out the evening.

Lopes, last Saturday, in the main draw, hardly broke a sweat against Viraj Sharma, defeating him 6-1, 6-4 while Benjaton Osbourne – the other semi-finalist – overcame Tom Watkins 1-6, 6-4, (10-7).

Lewis, on the other hand, defeated Leyland Leacock 7-6, (8-6 retired), while Resaul got into the act by defeating Jason Andrews 6-1, 6-2.

In the consolation matches, Wayne Baker received a walkover from Kevin Matai; Javed Khan defeated Donnie Anderson 6-0, 6-2 and Ronald Murray downed Devon Gonsalves 6-3, 6-4. David Rose was also victorious  coming out on top 6-2 6-1 in his clash against Philbert Clarke.
