The Doobay Medical and Research Centre yesterday donated one million disposable face masks and a quantity of face shields to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry’s Permanent Secretary (PS), Malcolm Watkins, the donation will help health workers to manage the fight against COVID-19. He said that the Health Ministry intends to utilize the critical personal protective equipment donated and will commence distribution to hospitals to help protect frontline workers.

Watkins also noted that the Doobay Medical and Research Centre has been working collaboratively with the ministry for years and the government is appreciative of the strategic support. He added that many other private sector organisations have been supporting the ministry, namely Ansa McAl, CGX Energy and Exxon.

The PS said that the ministry will appreciate more donations as these add to the strategic supply chain and therefore allow it to use the moneys saved to purchase other necessary equipment for the health sector.
