Ramdhani back at the helm of badminton association

Long-serving badminton executive, Gokarn Ramdhani, has once been re-elected President of the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA). According to a press release, Ramdhani’s election to office was formalized when the association held its Biennial General Meeting at the Guyana Olympic Association Headquarters, Block XXX Plantation Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara last Thursday.

Ayanna Watson was elected Vice President.

The executive management committee which will serve up until 2022, also includes Emelia Ramdhani (secretary), Dr. Shivanne Persaud (assistant secretary), Darrell Carpenay (treasurer) and Marlon Chung (assistant treasurer).

Ryan Chang and Ernesto Choo-A-Fat are the committee members. 

The meeting also decided on a number of Sub-Committee Chairpersons.

They are Emergency Committee (Disciplinary): Dr. Anna Perrreira, Selection Committee (Players/Teams): Chet Bowling, Fixtures Committee (Matches & Competitions): Dr. Easa Sanichara, Fund Raising Committee: Christine Kumar, National Captain: Akili Haynes and International Captain: Narayan Ramdhani.

The GBA, in the release also indicated that the newly elected committee will begin its tenure with the hosting of an Air Badminton tournament (an outdoor event) on Thursday at the National Park where they hope to launch demos for the viewing of the general public from 14:00h.
