Vriesland boy gets $500,000 for kidney transplant

Vitality Incorporated on Saturday donated $500,000 to a Region Three resident to offset the cost of a kidney transplant for her son, according to the Department of Public Information (DPI).

Director,  Abbas Hamid, who was accompanied by Minister within the Ministry of Public Works,  Deodat Indar presented the sum to Nadie Budwah at her Vriesland home.

Budwah, who is also her son’s donor, was grateful for the sum.  She said her son had been receiving dialysis over the past four months.  “It has been so hard. For the past four months I have been so stressed out. So, they giving me a donation it means a whole lot for me. It has eased my headache,” she said.

Indar lauded Vitality’s support. “We will also raise another sum to assist the family further with regards to this particular surgery,” he said.

The Minister explained that the second sum of money will go towards aftercare for both the mother and son.

Hamid said when he heard of the situation, he immediately felt the urge to help since his father had passed away from kidney failure a few months ago.

“This is something that is close to me so right away, I spoke to my team and we decided we had to be part of this and we had to assist you and your son because he is young. He has a bright future and we believe that the youths are our future. So, we are here with the Minister to assist you with the surgery cost,” he said.
