City Council ready to work with gov’t for betterment of Georgetown

Dear Editor,

The year 2020 was a year of struggles, testing, trauma, loss, anxiety, fears etc. for the Georgetown Municipality, but nevertheless, it became a year of rest, learning, family, self-preservation, selflessness, care and love.

To be able to survive through a pandemic is truly a blessing and we must be thankful for this day, we did it! We made it through 2020, one of the most challenging years of our lives.

Personally, this was a year of growth, enlightenment and rebuilding the City of Georgetown, as Mayor, 2021 will be a year of improvement and practicing what we’ve learnt in 2020.

My vision is to have the City of Georgetown emerge once again to its status as the “Garden City” once again and I will be working diligently to make this a reality, with the “Clean up, Green Up” campaign. I have hopes in undertaking many projects that can provide jobs, avenues for businesses, proper facilities, better health care and better markets in this City.

The year 2021, I wish to reiterate to the Government once again let’s work together and do what’s right not just for ourselves but for our people. I urge businesses to pay your taxes so that the Mayor and City Council can perform its duties, and deliver in a timely manner. It is time to stop playing politics with people’s lives and welfare.

I will not be stuck in an immature loophole of politics; I’ve seen better, I know better and I want better. I am pleading with you citizens to do better, be your brother’s and sister’s keeper and look out for each other.

As the Chief Citizen of the City of Georgetown, my duty is to serve, protect and honour all its citizens. I look forward to having my vision and plans of this great City executed in 2021 and beyond.

Yours faithfully,

Mayor, Pandit Ubraj

Narine and family,

Councillors and Staff of the

Georgetown Mayor and
