Surveyor’s assistant dies on the job at Ogle Airport

An employee of a surveying firm under contract to the Eugene F. Correia International Airport, Ogle, East Coast Demerara has died.

A Ministry of Labour (MoL) release last week identified the dead man as Wazir Khan, 65, who resided at Lot 16 Industry Front, East Coast Demerara.

He was a surveyor’s assistant employed by RKV Persaud Land Surveying Services which is owned by Rohanlall Persaud.

According to the release, at about 1:30 hours on Monday, December 28, 2020, he collapsed and died while walking to conduct his duties at Plot # XI, Eugene F. Correia, International Airport, Ogle, East Coast Demerara. The MoL’s Occupational Safety and Health Department (OSH) is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this incident.

The Minister of Labour said it is deeply saddened about the recent fatality, and offers condolences to the family of the deceased, the release added.
