The Guyana Police Force yesterday said its officers found a revolver with matching ammunition on a man while he was in the vicinity of the Demerara Harbour Bridge.
The police disclosed that it is investigating the discovery of a .38 revolver and five rounds of matching ammunition found on a 61-year-old man of Charlotte Street, Bourda, Georgetown.
The items were found on the man while he was in the vicinity of the Demerara Harbour Bridge, West Bank Demerara, and that at the time of the discovery, the suspect was driving a motor car. A group of officers from the CID Headquarters were driving past and one of the officers observed the driver acting in a suspicious manner and decided to stop him and conduct a search on him and the vehicle he was driving, the police said.
Following the find, the driver was arrested and taken into custody and is presently assisting with the investigation.
