Army Medical Corps rank delivers baby at Kaikan

A Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Medical Corps rank, who is one of the force’s frontline workers on Saturday safely delivered a baby boy at Tshau Creek, Kaikan, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).

The GDF in a press statement yesterday said that the delivery was done at 5.46am by Acting Corporal Dominique Gonsalves-Sabola.

The newborn and his mother, Yancelis Diaz are in good health, the GDF said.

According to the GDF, Corporal Gonsalves-Sabola is a Grade II Medical Assistant who was enlisted in the GDF in April, 2013.

“He successfully completed the Grade III Medical Assistant Course in 2014, and, in 2018, successfully completed the Junior Leaders’ Course. In 2019, he successfully completed the Grade II Medical Assistant Course,” the statement said.

Corporal Gonsalves-Sabola is currently serving in the interior.
