GDF corporal completes medical course in India

Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Corporal Dominique Gonsalves of the Medical Corps recently completed the Advance Medical Course 55 in India.

A release from the GDF said that the four-month course, which concluded earlier this month was conducted in three phases. Phase One was conducted at the Special Force Training School in Bakloh, India and training was done in the areas of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Anatomy & Physiology, Medical and Surgical Emergencies, Elementary Nursing, Microbiology and Basic Cardiopulmonary life support.

Phase two of the training encompassed a 6-week rotation at various medical and surgical wards at the Western Command Hospital in Chandimandar, India.

Phase three covered Advance Medical training and included a practical and written examination.

Corporal Gonsalves is also a trained, certified Massage Therapist and Care Giver. He is also trained in Self Aid and Buddy Care by the United States Southern Command.  He  is a former student of the Tutorial Academy Secondary School, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
