Essequibo duo charged with robbing teen of motorcycle

Two men were on Monday charged with robbery under arms committed on an 18-year-old teen at Mashabo, Essequibo Coast.

Charles Abrams, a 28-year-old miner of Lot 44 Henrietta Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, and Travis Persaud, 28, of Anna Regina Market Square, Essequibo Coast, made their appearance before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Charity Magistrate’s Court. They pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on May 3rd, 2020, they robbed Rudranauth Chandrika, 18, of Dry Shore, Essequibo, of his motorcycle. The duo were granted bail in the sum of $150,000. They are scheduled to make their next court appearance on February 12.

A police report informed that the two suspects in May of last year stole a motorcycle from Chandrika valued at $220,000. They were later arrested on 14th January, 2021 and subsequently charged with the offence.
