Foreign Minister lauds outgoing Chinese Ambassador

Chinese Ambassador to Guyana  Cui Jianchun yesterday paid a final courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd.

 “You have represented China well”, the Foreign Minister said, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs release.

“We have developed stronger ties with China under your leadership and I know that we will continue to have strengthened relations for the mutual benefit of the people of China and Guyana,” the Minister said.

  “I love Guyana,” the Ambassador said, according to the release.

“It has left a mark on my heart,” he continued. He said that he is proud to have witnessed the enhancement of relations between the two countries.

He cited the recent rehabilitation of the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, the construction of a four-lane highway on the East Coast of Demerara, and the ongoing extension of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, among others. Additionally, China continues to provide scholarships and training opportunities for Guyanese.
