COVID-19 cases increase by 36

Guyana yesterday  recorded 36 new COVID-19 cases after over 600 persons were tested during the most recent testing cycle.

This was revealed in the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard which showed that the 36 new cases increased the total number in the country to 7,714. The cases came after 647 more persons were tested for the virus increasing the total number of person tested in the country to 51,019. This is the highest number of persons to have been tested within a 24-hour period.

The cases were recorded in six regions; Region One – 1 new case, Region Three – 4 new cases, Region Four – 22 new cases, Region Five – 2 new cases, Region Seven – 1 new case, and Region Ten – 6 new cases.

Guyana now has 770 active cases, 58 of whom are in institutional isolation while another 712 are in home isolation. Five persons remain patients at the country’s COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In addition, 12 persons are in institutional quarantine, while 81 more persons have recovered from the virus.

Guyana’s total number of recovered persons now stands at 6,762.
