Corentyne man charged with murdering nephews

Vernan Ravi Rangadoo, the Number 43 Village, Corentyne man who fatally stabbed his nephews on Sunday, was this morning charged with their murders and remanded to prison.

Rangadoo, 49, appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at the Number 51 Magistrate’s Court, where he was charged with the murder of Surendra Ragoonandan, 25, and Mahendra Ramoutar, 23, both of Number 43 Village, Corentyne.

The unrepresented man was remanded to prison until April 23, 2021, when his next hearing is scheduled.

Following an altercation with the accused, Ramoutar was on Sunday night rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, while Ragoonandan was pronounced dead on arrival at the Port Mourant Hospital.

Their mother, Sookmattie Richmond, was also stabbed the accused.
